Create Beautiful Jar Arrangements – Inspiration Plan
Welcome to Wolff Nordic's little plant guide! 🌱 Here we show you how to create the most beautiful pot arrangements that can adorn your outdoor space all year round. Imagine a miniature version of a perennial bed, where the perennial plants elegantly replace each other during the season - and all in pots that fit your style perfectly. Follow along in the video, at the bottom of the page. But read what you need first.
At Wolff Nordic we love perennials and ornamental grasses! They are both beautiful, hardy and frost-tolerant, which means they will come back year after year. With the right care, you won't have to replant every spring – instead, you just need to provide water and a little loving fertilizer.
We have carefully selected plants and flower bulbs that fit perfectly together and harmonize with our pots. The result? A setup that is not only beautiful throughout spring, summer and autumn, but also enchanting in winter, when frost and snow decorate the delicate seed pods and ears.
How to Get Started
Follow our simple step-by-step guide and create a potted arrangement that will impress the whole neighborhood!
You will need:
Plants:
Korean diamond reed warbler ( Calamagrostis brachytricha )
Overdam reed (Calamagrostis acutiflora)
Sankhansurt Chocolate Cherry (Sedum hybrid)
Solbrud Moerheim Beauty (Helenium hybrid)
Catnip Walker's Low (Nepeta faassenii)
Flower bulbs:
Daffodils
Pearl hyacinths
Materials:
Good potting soil from your plant center
Leca balls
Scissors
How to do it:
- Water the plants well a few hours before planting – this helps them establish faster.
- Fill the pots about one-fifth full with Leca balls to create a good drainage layer. Pebbles or pot shards can also be used.
- Fill with soil to about 15-20 cm to the edge . Water the soil thoroughly and let it settle.
- Place your plants in the pot and fill with soil to about 5 cm from the edge . Water again.
- Place the flower bulbs about 5 cm apart around the plants, making sure to vary the two types of bulbs. Plant them at a depth equal to three times the size of the bulb .
- Water thoroughly – and then your pots are ready to stand and decorate!
Care and Maintenance
To keep your pots looking beautiful all year round, you need to give them some love:
-
In November/December: Cover the plants when frost comes. For example, use spruce from the Christmas tree.
-
In March: Cut the ornamental grasses down to about 10 cm when the spring bulbs start to emerge. Wait to remove the spruce and cut the perennials until April.
- Water and fertilizer: Water thoroughly about once a week during the gardening season, and give them fertilizer pellets in early spring and again in July.
